In 2016 the love of my life was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
After surgery the ongoing treatment has resulted in many long hours over the last 5 years in waiting rooms crowded with people from all walks of life. Cancer does not discriminate. Having spent 50 years painting I found myself out of the studio and into the waiting room with a lot of time on my hands. Without my paints and brushes, I opened up the notes app on my iPhone which became my very rudimentary canvas and I began to draw some of the characters as I waited.

There were limitations to its use which include my fat fingers and the iPhones small ‘real estate’.

Each person was unaware they were the subject of an artistic endeavour and would change pose or leave without warning, so the length of time I had varied greatly and is reflected in the drawings. Sometimes I had only a few moments to sketch and I developed a ‘Haiku’ drawing approach.
